Another crazy busy weekend here at Carly Daniel Photography! On Saturday we shot Mona and Carl’s wedding at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach. I really couldn’t have asked for a better outcome of the day- the weather was perfect, everything ran smoothly thanks to Holly Schoenke of Simply Sweet Weddings, and best of all…I photographed a super in love bride and groom all day at a fabulous location

Since Mona & Carl decided to do a first look (see each other before the ceremony), we had plenty of time after the ceremony. We took a few photos around the grounds of the Hilton Waterfront Resort AND they were able to spend about half of their cocktail hour with their guests.

WOW! Gorgeous Mona! Though beautiful backgrounds are a plus, all you really need to make a flattering portrait is great window light. This image was created on a couch in the hotel lobby.
Carl’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time. This is why doing a first look is so awesome! You will never see a groom openly show his emotions like this during the ceremony when he knows he has 150 pairs of eyes glued on him!
The Huntington Beach Hilton has so many great spots for photography. Even the hallways have colorful backgrounds and ample natural light (my 2 favorite things!)
Perfection in wedding reception decor…Holly and her team created the most gorgeous reception space! She was great at anticipating the bride’s needs and was always a step ahead.
My 2nd photographer (shout out to Ryan Weeger!) and I set up 2 Alien Bee strobes to get this sweet lighting. I love how you can see the reactions of everyone in the background. Mona wasn’t exaggerating when she said I would have quite the party crowd on my hands!

Carly, you were such a breath of fresh air–more than a photographer on Saturday. I am so glad Mona found you…you obviously captured the beauty if the day. I can’t wait to see the rest!
