Mandee and Tom are past wedding clients of mine, so I was thrilled when they returned for family portraits. Their son is such a ham in front of the camera; I had a great time joking around with him while simultaneously snapping away on my camera. I’ve learned that method works a lot better than telling a child “Smile for the camera Johnny!” Once they’re told to do something, they think “What’s in it for me?” and they end up on a sugar high from all the candy their parents bribe them with. Luckily, our session was quite successful and there was no candy bribing going on. We started at my favorite little quaint location: Peppertree Lane in Laguna Beach, then stopped at a few spots around downtown Laguna. Our session ended across the street at the beach. Thank you Mandee, Tom, and little Z for being part of the reason I love what I do!

The mission began when Bob called me up and explained his idea of surprising his wife with photos of their adorable baby girl for Mother’s Day. After a morning photo session at the Montage in Laguna Beach, we ended up with hundreds of incredible images of Baby D. Since Bob was having trouble choosing just one image to enlarge and frame, I collaged 4 images and had a canvas gallery wrap made. This is the third time I’ve photographed baby D in her mere 7 months of life, and every time she grows up a little more, and has a little more personality. Below are a few images from her 1st session as a newborn, 2nd session at 3 months old, and 3rd session at 7 months old. Enjoy the pics of this cute little nugget!

7 months old, and now sitting all on her own!
There was plenty of exploring to do for Baby D at the Montage Resort.
Sometimes props aren’t used in the exact way I imagine. Baby D was quite fond of chewing the stem of my silk flower prop, and that was fine with me because it made a funny pic!
