Family

Anyone out there remember the swimsuit company Raisins?  I think my first 2 piece bathing suit was Raisins, and I was far too obsessed with it.  Anyways, as a teenager, Monique modeled for Raisins, and several other companies.  Looks like her son could be following in her footsteps.  For Monique and Garet, we shot an engagement portrait / family portrait session.  These days, many engaged people have children already, so it’s just natural that they’re included in these photos.  Garet and Monique’s love for each other is so obvious, and what’s better is that Garet shares a very special bond with Monique’s son.  Hopefully these images reflect the love this family has for one another.  I’m looking forward to Monique and Garet’s Laguna Beach wedding in the summer of 2010!

Portraits should be about the people, not the background. Simple backdrops help keep the focus on the subjects, & not be distracted by a busy background.wedding photography Irvine

The Fun Zone on the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach has lots of fun, colorful walls to use as backgrounds.engagement photography Irvine

The great thing about the Fun Zone as a portrait location is that the beach & pier are right across the street. You can have both an urban and nature look.engagement portraits Brea

This spot by the Balboa Pier has a perfect view of the sunset, though not a great view of the coastline like many Laguna Beach locations offer.engagement portraits Yorba Linda

The Balboa pier makes a cool background, and it’s fun to shoot pics underneath it too.family portraits Brea

Family Portrait Photographer Newport Beach

by carly on November 25, 2009

I met Doreen about a year ago when I took her corporate headshot. At the time, her daughter, Crystal, was pregnant with her first child so we got on the subject of maternity portraits and family portraits. Doreen was sure excited at her soon-to-be grandma status! While the family was together for Thanksgiving, we planned a photo session at the Fun Zone on the Balboa Peninsula. This spot is great for childrens’ portraits and family portraits because of the vibrant, fun backgrounds. The beach and Balboa Pier are right across the street from the Fun Zone, so there’s the opportunity for beach portraits as well. If you’re looking for a unique location to have your family or child photographed, call me up and we’ll meet at the Fun Zone!

Laguna Beach Family Portrait Photography | Picnic Beach

November 15, 2009

It’s that time of year again, time to have family portraits taken for holiday cards!  Though there are several great family portrait locations in Orange County, you can’t go wrong with a beach family photo.  Lyn picked up my business card at Dr. Hill’s office (our vet).  It had been way too long since they [...]

Family Portraits Laguna Beach

November 10, 2009

Mandee and Tom are past wedding clients of mine, so I was thrilled when they returned for family portraits. Their son is such a ham in front of the camera; I had a great time joking around with him while simultaneously snapping away on my camera. I’ve learned that method works a lot better than telling a child [...]

Miriam and I met a few years ago when I was donating my photography services to The March of Dimes Walk for Babies event in Newport Beach.  Shortly after we met, I shot a baby portrait session of her adorable little boy, Baby E.  I was so excited when Miriam contacted me about a year [...]

Children’s Portraiture Orange County

August 30, 2009

This summer, my cutie pie niece, Mirabella, visited California.  Of course I made sure she got plenty of time in front of my camera.  I love using the white backdrop for children’s portraits and baby portraits.  It’s simple, will never go out of style, and lets the viewer focus on the subject, instead of being [...]

Family Portrait Photographer Irvine | Laguna Beach Photographer

I first photographed Baby “N” when she was a tiny newborn.  Mommy and daddy must have liked the photos, because they called me up for a family portrait session now that Baby N is a big, grown up toddler.  Lena (Baby N’s mom) wanted the perfect beach location for their family photos, and after much [...]

Huntington Beach Baby Pictures

One of the perks of having a best friend who is a professional photographer is that they can photograph your kids whenever you want!  Over the past 4 years, I’ve accumulated thousands of images of Baby K and Little M, so it’s about time that I start blogging some of them.  Most of the time, [...]

Take a look at this precious little nugget! Don’t you just wana squeeze her cheeks?! Thanks to incredibly stylish parents, baby E has the poshest wardrobe I’ve ever seen on a toddler (we’re talkin’ Dior here people, no joke!) Baby E even naps in a chic custom designed bassinet. Is it sad that I’m jealous of [...]

Engagement Portraits Old Towne Orange Chapman University

February 1, 2009

Like many people, Tony met his future wife while on the job- on a Riverside County Fire Department fire engine! They opted for something different than the typical beach engagement photos, so we spent a couple hours in Old Towne Orange (aka The Circle) and Chapman University. These areas offer SO much variety- nature, fountains, charming antique [...]
