Engaged

I met up with Holly and Jeremy in downtown Laguna Beach for their engagement portrait session.  They both claim to be un-photogenic, and I think you’ll agree that statement is far from the truth!  This cute couple met at a leadership conference, and Holly wasn’t shy about letting Jeremy know she was interested.  Now here they are- getting married in a few months at Woodbury Community Association!  Congrats to the soon to be Mr. & Mrs. Lewis!

Anyone out there remember the swimsuit company Raisins?  I think my first 2 piece bathing suit was Raisins, and I was far too obsessed with it.  Anyways, as a teenager, Monique modeled for Raisins, and several other companies.  Looks like her son could be following in her footsteps.  For Monique and Garet, we shot an engagement portrait / family portrait session.  These days, many engaged people have children already, so it’s just natural that they’re included in these photos.  Garet and Monique’s love for each other is so obvious, and what’s better is that Garet shares a very special bond with Monique’s son.  Hopefully these images reflect the love this family has for one another.  I’m looking forward to Monique and Garet’s Laguna Beach wedding in the summer of 2010!

Portraits should be about the people, not the background. Simple backdrops help keep the focus on the subjects, & not be distracted by a busy background.wedding photography Irvine

The Fun Zone on the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach has lots of fun, colorful walls to use as backgrounds.engagement photography Irvine

The great thing about the Fun Zone as a portrait location is that the beach & pier are right across the street. You can have both an urban and nature look.engagement portraits Brea

This spot by the Balboa Pier has a perfect view of the sunset, though not a great view of the coastline like many Laguna Beach locations offer.engagement portraits Yorba Linda

The Balboa pier makes a cool background, and it’s fun to shoot pics underneath it too.family portraits Brea

Downtown Laguna Beach Engagement Portraits

November 2, 2009

For those of you who aren’t sure you want purely beach engagement photos, check out the cool combination of spots we used for Lori and Hugh’s Laguna Beach engagement session. We started at Peppertree Lane in downtown Laguna Beach, and got an awesome variety of backgrounds while strolling around other parts of downtown Laguna. After [...]

Laguna Beach Engagement Session

October 21, 2009

I vividly remember the first time I met Anni: my sophomore year at a Delta Gamma rush party. I was so drawn to her personality and wit; I just knew we would end up being friends. Any girl who has the guts to sport a hot pink cast on her injured leg is cool in [...]

Engagement Photographer Laguna Beach | Heisler Park

September 25, 2009

Vanessa and Mike met while both attending college at Cal State Northridge.  Their engagement photos were taken at the beach below Heisler Park in Laguna Beach.  It was a beautiful, sunny day, which resulted in a super blue sky.  While photographing these two, I couldn’t help but think “Dang, someday they’re going to make gorgeous [...]

Engagement Pictures – Old Towne Orange – Chapman University

June 16, 2009

Brianna and Teren were both majoring in music at Chapman University in Orange when they met and fell in love.  I also graduated from Chapman University, though I never crossed paths with either of them.  It would only be fitting that we do their engagement photos in the very place their romance began: on the [...]

Engagement Session Balboa Fun Zone Newport Beach

March 11, 2009

My memories of the Balboa Fun Zone date back to my elementary school days, when the thrill of The Dark Scary Ride (no joke, that’s what it was called), arcade ski-ball, and feasting on Balboa Bars were the highlight of my weekend. Last August, I photographed a bride and groom there before their reception at [...]

Engagement Portraits Old Towne Orange Chapman University

February 1, 2009

Like many people, Tony met his future wife while on the job- on a Riverside County Fire Department fire engine! They opted for something different than the typical beach engagement photos, so we spent a couple hours in Old Towne Orange (aka The Circle) and Chapman University. These areas offer SO much variety- nature, fountains, charming antique [...]

Los Angeles Wedding Photographer | LA Central Library

April 23, 2008

When I first met Erin and Dave, I had a feeling they were looking for something a little different than the typical beach engagement photos.  Their wedding was planned to take place at the Oviatt Penthouse in downtown Los Angeles, so they weren’t exactly self professed “beach people.”  Erin suggested the Los Angeles Central Library as the [...]

I’m Engaged!

March 2, 2008

I didn’t have my blog set up at the time, so here it is now- images from the evening Chriss proposed to me! Only a few people have seen these, until now I guess Chriss is such an amazing man, and I can’t believe that I have the privilege of spending the rest [...]
